Garth Kirkham has a B.Sc. (1983) from the University of Alberta and has over 28 years experience providing 3D geological/ geophysical and geostatistical modeling services and resource/reserve estimations to the mining and mineral exploration community. During this time Garth has worked on projects from grassroots exploration to operations. He has experience in both underground and open pit projects in a wide range of commodities from precious metals to base metals, strategic metals, industrial minerals throughout the world.
He is a Professional Geoscientist in British Columbia, Manitoba and in Ontario, as well as a Professional Geophysicist in Alberta and in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut. Garth was elected to council at APEGBC in 2011 and again for the 2012-2014 term. He is a member of the APEGBC Registration Committee and Vice-Chair of the Geoscience Committee.
He has been a National Council Member for the Geological Association of Canada along with being the past President of the Geological Society, CIM. He is also Past President for the Mineral Deposits Division of the Geological Association of Canada. Garth is a fellow of the Society of Economic Geologists and he received the Geological Associations Distinguished Member Award in 2013.
He is the currently the Chair of the Best Practices Committee for the CIM, along with being the Chair of the Securities Committee for Geoscientists Canada and of the Vancouver Mineral Exploration Group (MEG).
Garth and other members of the EXTECH III team were awarded the 2006 Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM) Barlow Medal and the Award of Merit presented by NAPEGG. In addition, Garth was awarded the JC Sproule Memorial Plaque from CIM in 2010 the Julian Boldy Award in 2012 and also recognized as Distinguished Lecturer for 2013-2014.
