CIM is hosting MeMO 2016 – a Conference by Operators for Operators; October 16-18, Radisson Hotel, Sudbury, Ontario, Canada


Sudbury, Ontario, September 23, 2016: The Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM) is proud to host the 2016 edition of the Maintenance, Engineering & Reliability/Mine Operators Conference and Trade Show (MeMO). The conference will kick-off with a timely and lively Plenary Session addressing “Leading and Managing in a Volatile Economy,” moderated by Bruce Jago, Executive Director of the Goodman School of Mines, Laurentian University. Panelists include: Michael Winship, CIM President 2016-2017; Stuart Harshaw, Vice-President, Ontario Operations, Vale; Peter Xavier, Vice-President, Sudbury INO, a Glencore Company; and Frank Demers, General Manager for KGHM’s Sudbury Operations.

The two-day technical program will feature more than 90 presentations on topics including: Health, Safety & Environment; Reducing Mining Costs & Value Optimization; Managing Challenging Ground Conditions; Innovations in Mineral processing; Asset Management & Reliability; Energy Management; Ventilation; Open Pit; and more. MeMO 2016 offers a cost-effective way to acquire knowledge about the latest ideas and innovations from industry leaders across a broad spectrum of disciplines. This is a conference by operators for operators.

A sold out trade show will feature the products and services of 30 top suppliers and mining organizations.

Media and Conference attendees will also want to check out the Mining 4 Society (M4S) Show – an interactive educational show about mining, minerals, metals and materials – being held on October 13 & 14 at the Alumni Hall of Laurentian University – in the days before the big kick-off. Up to 1,000 students from the region will explore the importance of mining in everyday life and participate in the “Amazing Mine Challenge”.
