Denis Isabel, Director, Environment & Sustainability for Ausenco Engineering Canada, is the new Technical Chair of CIM 2017.
Isabel is a reputable senior hydrogeological engineer with more than 37 years of experience in applied environmental engineering and hydrogeology. He started his career in research on hydrogeological modelling in mining. Over the past 20 years in consulting engineering, he has been involved in numerous projects, mainly in the mine environment and hydrogeology field. Isabel has directed a variety of studies and projects related to the characterization and management of acid generating and neutral tailings and waste rocks, and surface water and groundwater impacted by mining activities. As a hydrogeologist, he has specific experience in characterization, numerical modelling and groundwater geochemistry. He has recognized experience in development and implementation of mine closure and reclamation plans. He also conducted several peer reviews and risk analyses of mine tailings management facilities in Canada. He acted as Lead in hydrogeology and environmental engineering in various major mine development projects worldwide. Since 2004, Isabel has evolved into divisional management positions and developed solid business development network in international mining industry.
