As a community, it is important that we keep one another informed and safe. At CIM, we believe community means staying strong and supporting each other during the most challenging times. Staying connected during self-isolation and social distancing

According to the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), “social distancing” is defined as the measures used to minimize COVID-19 transmission, which means minimizing close contact with others. At CIM, we understand that both self-isolation and social distancing can not only be boring, but also lonely. We want you to remain connected with the broader community through methods of non-physical interaction and communication. Here are some of our suggestions to stay connected:

Create online discussions

Currently 800 of our members are on CIM Link, a dedicated platform for CIM members to engage and discuss the happenings surrounding the minerals and metals industry. There’s a private group for every Branch, Society and Student Chapter to discuss and develop new ideas for content delivery and to stay connected. Want to talk to the entire community? The Live Feed and the Forums section is where you can share content and find out what others are doing during this period. CIM’s social media channels are also great places to get the latest news and find out what CIM is doing to support you and your members.

Online and interactive workshops/webinars

While many people are settling into their new realities (working and studying from home) now is a great time to attend online events, or to organize them yourself. Asking an industry professional to give a webinar to you and a group of colleagues can be a great way to mobilize the community.

Stay sharp and access content from anywhere

As many of us are working from home and have more time than usual on our hands, it may not be obvious where to turn for leading expertise, technical content and new learning opportunities. At CIM, we are making this easy for you. The CIM Content Ecosystem is full of the content you want, expect and need in these times. From the CIM Magazine publication to the CIM Webinar Series, the greatest content from the industry, by industry experts, is available to you.
