As a young girl growing up near Creighton mine, Roxanne Kneer never imagined the mining industry would become such a big part of her life. While still a teenager, she began learning about the mining community while assisting in proofreading and putting together inserts for mining papers her father, the late Rudolph Kneer, published for the CIM Sudbury Branch. While her own career in the publishing field began with tenure at The Sudbury Star, she continued to proofread, make photo montages and do bookkeeping for a publication her father founded, the Northern Ontario Mining News. Roxanne came to the CIM Sudbury Branch executive as the membership chair and later moved to various roles including facilities, social (Monte Carlo, sweetheart, lobster and golf), public relations, secretary, website, newsletter and donations. She has also held various roles on the MeMO conference organizing committees and is a past-secretary of the Modern Mining & Technology Sudbury (formerly Sudbury Mining Week) committee.
