The CIM Mentorship Program connects seasoned industry professionals with students and recent graduates.
Over the course of one year, mentors and mentees set the parameters of their meetings, discuss challenges and opportunities and work toward their goals.
Mentors have an opportunity to give back to the industry by sharing their learned and lived experiences while mentees gain invaluable knowledge that helps them lay a pathway to personal and professional success.
We are currently inviting mentors and mentees from all areas of the minerals and metals industry to apply. Applicants must be CIM Members in good standing. If you are not already a member and wish to apply, please click here.
What to Expect
Program Objective
Its purpose is to is to connect post‐secondary students in mining disciplines with mining industry mentors to facilitate knowledge transfer, reduce student attrition, develop future leaders, and to provide every opportunity for students to have a successful and rewarding career in the mining industry.
The mentor is to provide the mentee with advice and information that could cover school-related and/or work-related topics.
Time Commitment
The program is offered as a 1-year commitment with the option to continue depending on demand. The frequency of one-on-one meetings or calls will be discussed and agreed upon by the mentor and mentee in the initial meeting.
Matching Process
CIM will facilitate the match between mentor and mentee based on the information collected on the profile form in the third party online system, Mentorcity. Key criteria for matching partners will be based on the areas of expertise the mentor has, and the area of greatest learning need identified by the mentee.
