Mine Evolution wins prestigious award and launches new game updates

We’re thrilled to announce that Mine Evolution has been awarded the Silver Medal for Excellence in the 2024 International Serious Play Awards Program, marking another significant achievement for this popular game. The award highlights CIM’s outstanding contribution to education on ethical and sustainable mining in Canada.

New updates live!

In addition to this exciting honour, Mine Evolution designers D&D Skunkworks have introduced an update, bringing new features and enhancements that elevate the player experience. The update includes:

  • New dynamic cost system: As players expand their mining operations, the cost of building structures now rises by 1% for each new addition. This new feature increases the challenge over the long-term by preventing rapid wealth accumulation and encouraging more strategic growth.
  • New texture packs: This feature adds a richer, more dynamic environment as players progress through different provinces and seasons. The new textures reflect year-round mining activities across Canada, with lush greens representing British Columbia and snowy whites for Nunavut, among other regional variations.
  • Key enhancements to improve gameplay clarity and user experience: The text size for “mine moments” has been increased for better readability, and the scroll bar icon has been reversed for more intuitive navigation. To help players identify underground mines, a highlight outline has been added that corresponds to the type of mineral found within. Additionally, we’ve reduced the frequency of processor overload and silo requirement warnings, ensuring smoother gameplay without unnecessary interruptions.
