Christian West is a mining engineer with 19 years of experience in the mining and aggregates sectors. He started his career in the Oil Sands with Syncrude Canada where he focused on crushing and conveying materials.  After returning to Nova Scotia he has spent the past 11 years in sales, first to soft rock underground mines with Torrox International and more recently to aggregate and mining customers with Toromont Cat’s Crushing Division.     

From his student days at Dalhousie onwards he has been involved in CIM and industry promotion. He served on the Fort McMurray Branch and was president for 3 years. Nationally he sat on the CSA M422 technical committee, and served as a CIM Foundation trustee. In Nova Scotia he was the inaugural chair of the province’s NS Mineral Resource Development Fund advisory council and has been involved with the Mining Society of Nova Scotia for a decade, currently serving as vice president.
