Ian S. Thompson is president of Derry, Michener, Booth & Wahl Consultants Ltd. (“DMBW”), a consulting firm specializing in exploration, reserve estimation, engineering and mineral property valuation. 

He holds a B.A. (Hon. Geological Sciences) from the University of Toronto (1959) and has 45 years of Canadian and international experience in economic geology, including the discovery of base metal, gold, and uranium deposits. He has broad valuation experience in all commodities, ranging from grassroots exploration properties, through development stage projects, to operating mines and to dormant operations. 

Thompson is a Professional Engineer registered in British Columbia and is a Life Member of CIM. He is a Fellow of the Geological Association of Canada and the Society of Economic Geologists and is a member of PDAC and BCYCM. As a valuation practitioner, he participated in the special committee (“CIMVal”) appointed by CIM at the request of the TSE/OSC Mining Standards Task Force, to develop Standards and Guidelines for Valuation of Mineral Properties in Canada.
