Dr. Josephine Morgenroth is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of British Columbia, and the director of innovation & applied research at RockMass Technologies. In her 10-year career, she has worked on mining, energy, and tunnelling projects across North and South America and in Europe, spanning various stages of design, site investigations, construction, and operation. She is a licensed geotechnical engineer and holds a PhD in machine learning applications to underground rock engineering. This is a topic she is further exploring through her post-doctoral research at UBC, where she is developing automatic feature detection algorithms for digital mapping.  

At RockMass, Dr. Morgenroth combines her practical experience and research expertise to lead a team in developing and implementing underground digital mapping technologies. She is passionate about Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion initiatives and strives to empower underrepresented groups in the mining and rock engineering industries through thoughtful leadership and intentional action.
