Sean McCaughan was appointed senior vice president, coal for Sherritt International Corporation in February 2012. McCaughan is responsible for leading Sherritt’s coal business consisting of approximately 1,600 employees across eight surface coal mines in Western Canada. He has held several positions with Sherritt including most recently serving as the managing director, business development and marketing, coal and director, commercial & projects, coal.

McCaughan is the vice chairman of the Coal Association of Canada, serves as a member of the board of directors for the Lignite Energy Council, and is a former director of the Canadian Clean Power Coalition. He is also a member of CIM and represents Sherritt on the International Energy Agency Coal Advisory Board.

McCaughan holds an honours bachelor of business administration from Wilfrid Laurier University.
