Sudbury Geological Discussion Group has been active for more than 20 years. We hold technical meetings every 4 to 8 weeks, depending upon speakers’ schedules. Most meetings are held at the Willet Green Miller Centre (home of the Ontario Geological Survey) on the Laurentian University campus. Topics of interest include the geology of the Canadian Shield, ore deposits, metallogeny, tectonics, and remote sensing. From time to time, we have organized conferences. We have also provided support to conferences organized by others, and to the geology students at the Harquail School of Earth Sciences at Laurentian University.

CIM provides a sense of belonging, an extended family of friends and colleagues. I enjoy collaborating with CIM Toronto, supporting other chairs and committee members, and organizing events that bring people together. It fosters industry connections, understanding, and support – it feels like a family.
