About Us

Sudbury Geological Discussion Group has been active for more than 20 years. We hold technical meetings every 4 to 8 weeks, depending upon speakers’ schedules. Most meetings are held at the Willet Green Miller Centre (home of the Ontario Geological Survey) on the Laurentian University campus. Topics of interest include the geology of the Canadian Shield, ore deposits, metallogeny, tectonics, and remote sensing. From time to time, we have organized conferences. We have also provided support to conferences organized by others, and to the geology students at the Harquail School of Earth Sciences at Laurentian University.

Join CIM

I’m an immigrant to Canada, and when you come over you want to get to know the industry as quickly as possible to help you fit in and to help you transition, so joining CIM was the right thing to do.
