Dr. Agus Sasmito is assistant professor in the Department of Mining and Materials Engineering at McGill University since 2014. He received a PhD from the National University of Singapore in 2011. He teaches mine ventilation and materials handling courses at McGill. He is the co-chair of 17^th North American Mine Ventilation Symposium (NAMVS) 2019 in Montreal. He serves as MER publication chair (Associate Editor) of CIM Journal and assistant editor of Drying Technology journal. He established the McGill Mine Multiphysics laboratory: advanced multiphysics systems for sustainable minerals & energy extraction, in which he has made significant contributions to research in mine ventilation, heating and cooling, thermal energy storage, artificial ground freezing, and other topics. He has published over 80 peer-reviewed journal papers and over 50 peer-reviewed conference papers. In the past five years, he has supervised over 20 graduate (Ph.D. and M.Sc.) students.
